HELP! SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK!!!! (Read First)

If you're in this forum, no doubt you've come across something that you think doesn't work in Nova and are going to frantically post and then refresh 10,000 times hoping that it's magically replied to within seconds of posting it. We keep a constant eye on the forums and try to respond to everything within a few hours if possible. In the meantime though, here are some things you can try before submitting to help us narrow down what's going on and getting things resolved quickly.

Try the default skin
I know, you think it's ugly, but the fact is, that's the skin that's right. Because of the developer flexibility in Nova, it's possible that you've overridden the view file in question with a MOD or a skin and that it's the skin that's the problem not Nova. You'd be amazed how often that happens. The first thing you should do is see if you can duplicate the behavior in the default skin.

Try other browsers
Some browsers are renowned for having all sorts of problems. (I'm looking at you, IE.) If you're running in to problems, it's important to pinpoint whether this is browser specific or an issue with Nova. Make sure you try in at least one other browser (preferably Firefox or Chrome). It's important to note these things when submitting.

Search the forums
We've been around providing support for a long time, and in that time, a lot of topics have come up. Make sure you search the forums before posting. You never know, your question may have already been answered.

Be Specific
If the issue happens in the default skin, happens in multiple browsers and there aren't any topics in the forums on it, then it's time to post a message with your issue. When you do, take your time and be as specific as possible. The more information you can provide the easier it'll be to track down the issue and resolve it quickly. Some of the information you'll want to be include is:

  • The URL of your site.
  • The URL of your site. (No, that's not a typo. Many hours and days have been wasted simply waiting for someone to check back and respond with a URL.)
  • The version of Nova you're running. (Find it in the System and Versions page under the Reports section)
  • The steps to reproduce the issue.

Following the above steps will help us get your issue solved quickly, so please try to follow them as best you can when you run in to issues with Nova.
