Application Timeout

If an applicant takes too long filling out the character bio form the NOVA 2.5 times them out and it isn't accepted. They have to start all over again. Is there any way to turn it off?

Re: Application Timeout

That's a little strange. There shouldn't be any chance of timing out since the only people filling it out shouldn't be logged in. Do you have specific error messages that you can provide?

Re: Application Timeout

While I can't provide specific examples, it has happened to me on a variety of sims, as well as players I've had use my form on my website.

This might not be the place for this, but I've also had instances where I'm writing a post using an iPad. I would take maybe 20 minutes to write a 1,000-word post, only for Nova to eat it when I was done. Even hitting the back button wouldn't recover it. Since then, I've used Google Docs and other platforms to write, only to copy and paste into nova when I'm absolutely done.

Re: Application Timeout

Unfortunately with that, it's more about the server Nova sits on than Nova itself. It's the age old mantra: save early, save often. I'll try to look in to some solutions for Nova 3 to mitigate the issue.

Yeah, definitely my fault for not saving. Applications, unfortunately, can't be saved, just submitted. Saving isn't a bad idea for Nova 3.

Re: Application Timeout

Saving applications is actually really tricky because it involves a lot of different tables and then making sure it's sent through the proper workflow when it's finally finished. I'll have to think about that architecture.

Regardless, I'm still confused how an application times out because there's no session like there is with a mission post. I'm stumped on that one.

There is no error code. Everything looks normal until you hit Submit then it tells you...in red at the top of the page... that you need to fill out your name, email and a password again and you have to start all over again. I have been telling people to write their profiles out in a word processor and copy/paste it into the boxes to save time but we do have several people who have wanted to join using only their mobile devices and they don't have word processors installed on the device.
