Nova 2.5.1

After a year of development and testing, we’re incredibly excited to make Nova 2 available to the world!

You thought that updating Nova was time-consuming and laborious. We listened, and now Nova 2 sports a brand-new file structure that makes updating as simple as deleting a folder, uploading a new copy, and running the update script in your browser.

You thought the built-in wiki had some limitations. We listened, and now Thresher has a new category selection UI, the ability to add categories when you’re creating/editing a page, improved search, a way to edit the content of core wiki pages, RSS feeds for new and updated pages, new UIs for viewing and managing wiki pages, and several bug fixes.

You were frustrated by updating a multi-author post only to have your changes wiped out because someone else was editing at the same time. We listened, and now Nova 2 included a smart post locking feature that makes sure those frustrations are a thing of the past.

You were frustrated about how difficult it was to add some of your own rich content to Nova. We listened, and now Nova allows you to use those previously disallowed HTML tags (like script, iframe, and embed) to push banner exchanges and YouTube videos to your pages without the hassle of creating new pages and digging in to PHP code.

There have been a massive number of changes and we can’t cover them all here, but check Nova 2 out for yourself and see all the improvements, bug fixes, and new features that have been added to the premier RPG management tool.

The update guide can be found here. Make sure you read and understand it before trying to update. (And backup too!)

Re: Nova 2.0.1

Apologies for the quick update, but an error slipped through during editing (owed entirely to the fact that I turn update notifications off since I kinda know when updates are out :P). Version 2.0.1 is up on the site for any early adopters. All others, just use the 2.0 update guide to move from Nova 1 to Nova 2.

Re: Nova 2.0.2

This update to Nova 2 addresses a wide range of minor issues found in the system. In particular, manifest display issues, errors thrown from some controllers, the milestone report displaying incorrectly in certain situations, orphaned data, the Who’s Online listing, and character bio image galleries were all addressed. In addition, we’ve removed the social interaction tools from the image modal pop-up and made some tweaks to post locking to address a few nagging issues.

We are aware of some users having issues with uploading PNG images and are currently looking in to the cause of this issue.

Re: Nova 2.0.3

This update to Nova 2 addresses issues with errors thrown after turning post participants off and benchmarking pseudo-variables not working right because of the Template engine. In addition, we have updated the jQuery UI to version 1.8.18.

After spending several days tracking down the upload issue, we’ve identified it as a server issue either related to the latest release of PHP 5.2 or a specific setting. A fix is available on AnodyneXtras under the Nova 2 Utilities tab.

You can download the latest version of Nova 2 at the Nova site.

Re: Nova 2.1

Nova 2.1 is the first major update to Nova 2 and address several minor bugs still found throughout 2.0.

In addition, the mission notes feature gets a much needed update to notify players when mission notes have been updated. If the mission notes for any active mission have been updated in the last 72 hours, when a player lands on the posting page, the mission notes section will automatically be expanded. Additionally, Nova will always show when the last time the mission notes were updated so that players can see if they need to check out the notes.

A full changelog is available on AnodyneDocs and the update can be downloaded from the Nova site now. The update guide can be found here. Make sure you read and understand it before trying to update. (And backup too!)

Re: Nova 2.1.1

Nova 2.1.1 is a bug fix release and is now available. Several outstanding issues from the Nova 2.1 release are addressed in this patch, including:

- Upgrades from SMS didn't upgrade anything (viewtopic.php?f=60&t=3804)
- Nova prompting for an update after updating to Nova 2.1 (viewtopic.php?f=60&t=3775)
- The What's New menu item throwing a 404 error (viewtopic.php?f=60&t=3775)
- Some language strings not being formatted properly
- Debug code on the user bio page (viewtopic.php?f=60&t=3785)
- Unlinked NPCs having a link to a user bio page

A full changelog is available on AnodyneDocs and the update can be downloaded from the Nova site now. The update guide can be found here. Make sure you read and understand it before trying to update. (And backup too!)

Re: Nova 2.1.1

It was brought to my attention that I missed updating one of the files for 2.1.1 so the update bug was still an issue. I'm re-generating the zip files now and as of 3pm on Thursday September 13, you'll be able to pull the refreshed copy of 2.1.1 from the Nova site, overwrite the nova directory, and it should fix the issue. Apologies for the mix up.

Re: Nova 2.1.3

Nova 2.1.3 is now available!

This update fixes a bug with dynamic forms and patches a critical security vulnerability in Nova.

We apologize for the quick turnaround between 2.1.2 and 2.1.3. When a security vulnerability was brought to our attention, we moved quickly to patch it and get the fix out to the community. In our haste to fix the problem though, we didn't test 2.1.2 as thoroughly as we should have. The result was a bug where over 2 dozen pages had broken functionality throughout the admin system. We've taken measures to correct the issues today. If you recognize further impairment, please let us know.

Re: Nova 2.2

Nova 2.2 is now available!

Included in this release are some enhancements as well as addressing several issues.

- Most emails sent from Nova now include a reply-to header. When you hit Reply in your email client, you'll be able to respond directly to the author of the post instead of going to the dummy email addressed used by Nova.

- Author listings throughout Nova now link to the character bios. Thanks to Jordan Jay for the initial stab at this idea!

- Third-party developers now have more robust methods for pulling back information from dynamic forms.

Re: Nova 2.3

Nova 2.3 is now available.

This release adds new functionality to Nova 2 for manifests and dynamic forms as well as expansion of sim stats.

- Dynamic forms will no longer show fields that don’t have any content in them.

- Dynamic forms now have the ability to have inline help for any field in each of the forms.

- Manifests can now pull metadata from any character field. That means you can now add things like species and gender to the manifest without a MOD. Instructions are in the Edit Manifest section, but simply, you’ll just add the HTML name of the field you want to add.

- Sim stats now show stats for as long as Nova has been installed.
